Our reports compile accident and damage records from insurance claims, police reports, collision repair facilities, and auto auction condition reports.

• Safety: Structural repairs may not restore a vehicle to its original crash-test safety rating
• Value: A vehicle with accident history typically sells for 10–30% less than a comparable vehicle with a clean history
• Reliability: Improperly repaired collision damage can cause premature wear on suspension, alignment, and body components
• Insurance: Some insurers charge higher premiums or limit coverage for vehicles with significant accident histories

Damage Severity Levels

Not all accidents are the same. Our reports categorize damage when sufficient data is available:

• Minor: Cosmetic damage such as scratches, dents, or bumper damage with no structural impact
• Moderate: Damage requiring panel replacement or significant body work, but no frame damage
• Severe: Structural or frame damage, airbag deployment, or damage resulting in a total loss declaration

Important Notes

Not all accidents are reported to the databases we access. Minor fender benders repaired out of pocket, unreported incidents, and accidents in certain jurisdictions may not appear. A clean accident history in a report does not guarantee the vehicle has never been in an accident. Always have a used vehicle inspected by a qualified mechanic before purchase.
